Sevilla Food Recommendations – The Fitnessista

Sharing some of the food highlights from our trip to Spain. If you have any recs to share, please shout them out in the comments! My last Spain recap is here.

Hi friends! Happy Monday! I hope that your week is off to a great start. We had a lovely weekend over here. We celebrated my nana’s birthday – I’ll share some pics in Friday Faves – enjoyed the Tucson monsoons (SO good), and got ready for a little adventure. I post a lot more over on IG stories if you’d like to follow along there!

For today’s post, I wanted to share some eats from Spain! You guyyyyyyssss. The food was incredible. Everything was fresh and delicious – even the fried options felt light and less greasy than their US counterparts – and I’ve already tried to replicate some of our favorite dishes here at home. While we went out to eat a LOT and tried so much incredible places, I’m sharing our top picks from Sevilla below.

A funny note before we get started: we like to eat. Like, a lot. We’re all foodies, we all enjoy it, and we like the try ALL the things. Also, when we travel, we tend to have one giant meal each day and then snack and grab smaller bites the rest of the day. (You can see an example of this when we went to Mykonos here.) At least three times during the trip, the server asked us to stop ordering. “Ok, that’s enough food.” LOL. Let it be known that we ordered a lot – you know, in the name of research – and we crushed it. Maybe they’re used to tourists ordering a lot of food and wasting it? Welp, that wasn’t us.

Sevilla Food Recommendations and recap!

Ofelia bakery:

We wandered into this charming little bakery because it had great reviews. It also had gluten-free options; it was very easy for me to eat gluten-free the entire time we were in Sevilla. (Staying gf has made a tremendous difference in my autoimmune recovery.) I had a gluten-free tostada with avocado, jamòn, tomato, olive oil, salt and pepper.

It’s worth mentioning here that I pretty much never eat pork here in the states – I cook bacon for the family but don’t personally eat it – and haven’t been a pork fan pretty much my entire life. I had jamón every.single.day we were in Spain and it was delicious.

chök:

Located in the vibrant city center, chök offers an exquisite selection of artisanal chocolates and confections that are crafted with precision and passion. Visitors can enjoy a variety of treats, from rich, velvety truffles and creamy bonbons to decadent chocolate bars infused with unique flavors like sea salt, chili, and exotic spices. chök also serves hot chocolate that is perfect for a cozy treat on a cooler day.

We didn’t take advantage of the hot chocolate, but we diiiiid have cupcakes and bonbons. I wanted to fill my suitcase with chocolate bars but had a feeling they’d melt on the way back.

Mariatrufunca:

Mariatrifulca is a culinary gem located along the banks of the Guadalquivir River in Sevilla, offering a dining experience that’s as remarkable as its stunning views. This stylish restaurant, with its rooftop terrace, provides a picturesque setting to enjoy exquisite Andalusian cuisine.

They offer fresh, locally-sourced seafood and traditional Spanish dishes with a modern twist. The ambiance is chic yet inviting, making it an ideal spot for a romantic dinner or a leisurely lunch with friends, all while basking in the beauty of Sevilla’s skyline and the view of the river.

Everything was a 10/10, but the standouts were the tuna ribs and the beef tartare.

El Rinconcillo:

El Rinconcillo, the oldest bar in Sevilla, is a must-visit for anyone exploring this vibrant city. Established in 1670, this historic gem offers an authentic taste of traditional Andalusian cuisine. Stepping into El Rinconcillo is like traveling back in time, with its charmingly rustic décor, wooden beams, and walls adorned with vintage bullfighting posters.

The menu is filled with classic Spanish tapas, including jamón ibérico, salmorejo, and their famous espinacas con garbanzos (spinach with chickpeas). It’s the perfect spot to enjoy a glass of tinto de verano while soaking in the rich history and lively atmosphere that make Sevilla so special.

The standouts from this meal were the beef (if was shredded with a savory sauce and carrots) and the espinacas con garbanzos.

Beach food!

I have no clue what the name of this place is, but it is the restaurant by Chiringuito Roche in Cádiz. We rented a car one afternoon and had a beach day, and at the restaurant, we ordered a ton of tapas to share. The highlights were the paella, sardines, and cold albariño wine.

The gourmet floor at El Corte Inglés:

This is a full experience in itself. AJs and Whole Foods could never. All the olive oil, caviar, incredible whiskey and wine selection, multiple restaurants, bonbons (the best chocolate), breads, seafood… It’s amazing. El Corte Inglés is also a giant department store with anything you could wish for: entire floors dedicated to designer clothing, cosmetics, shoes, sports, toys, books, and music. Just go!

Bar El Comercio:

If you viit Sevilla, you have to get churros! They’re totally different than the ones we have here in the states. They’re light and fluffy, not coated in sugar, and they come with rich, warm chocolate sauce for dipping.

Bar El Comercio was highly recommended by our friends, and everyone loved them. Sadly, I did not partake but I did drink a little of the chocolate dipping sauce 😉

Rosalia’s:

This charming ice cream shop is celebrated for its wide variety of unique and traditional flavors, each crafted with high-quality, natural ingredients. I can confidently say that we had Rosalia’s all 10 days we were in Sevilla. It’s some of the best ice cream I’ve ever had.

Drinks:

If you go to Sevilla, you have to check out Bar Garlochi aka Church Bar. This bar within an old church gave me Baz Luhrman vibes in the best possible way. It has slightly creepy, over-the-top baroque Catholic decor, including gilded angels, Mary statues, antique chandeliers (and probably the original velvet drapes), and fake flowers. You just have to see it to experience it.

This post is already lengthy, so I’ll post the Spain Q&A post next Monday! If you have any questions you’d like me to include, please let me know in the comments.

Have an amazing day and I’ll see you soon.

xoxo

Gina
